Freedom In Your Hands

‘Freedom in Your Hands’, Amnesty International UK’s action in 2010 on Burma, was inspired by the work of James Mackay, a London-based freelance documentary photographer who has photographed more than 160 former Burmese political prisoners. Handcrafted Films tells the story of James’ work and the action Amnesty intend to take. The film was extremely successful, receiving over 12,000 views in the first month of its release. It also ended up being included on the Official Selection of the Vimeo Film Festival last year, being screened at the New York School of Visual Arts and was credited with ‘…exemplifies the evolution of compelling short docs on the web…’. It was also shown at the Labour Party Conference on International Affairs.
